The Arizona Cardinals announced a few roster moves on Wednesday, as they trimmed the offseason roster by four players. With rookie camp this weekend and a flurry of undrafted rookie additions, Arizona was looking to free some spots up to either announce new additions or have room when the additions come.

The four players released were:

  • C Valerian Ume-Ezeoke
  • CB Kevin White
  • CB Joel Wilkinson
  • S Tyrequek Zimmerman

White was a member of the practice squad last year, while the other three signed with the team in the offseason. None of them was paid any guaranteed money and they will not count against the salary cap.

Wilkinson was an Australian rules player who came over.

Ume-Ezeoke was a guy we got to know on the site, as he sought me out for a story and I brought him on the podcast. I am sorry to see him go. However, with the addition of rookie Evan Boehm, his spot became expendable.

Likewise, with the team drafting two cornerbacks and a safety, you can see why the other three players were let go.
