The next undrafted rookie the Arizona Cardinals signed after the NFL Draft is a guy many people are really excited about. It is Canadian cornerback Eli Bouka.
Bouka, who is 6-1 and 205 pounds, was a 2014 Canada West All Star selection and second team all Canadian for the University of Calgary Dinos before missing his senior season with an Achilles injury. Bouka enrolled at the University of Calgary in 2012 and played 27 games as a wide receiver before moving to cornerback in 2013. In his three seasons with the Dinos, Bouka had 30 tackles, three interceptions and 16 receptions for 309 yards and a touchdown. A Laval, Quebec native, Bouka won a silver medal for Team Quebec at the 2010 Canada Cup as a wide receiver and punt returner.
He is tremendously athletic, but tore his Achilles last fall. He will not be able to participate in offseason workouts and OTAs. He reportedly has run a 4.3 40, which would be one of the fastest prospects in this year's draft class. He is also very strong. He put up 24 reps of 225 pounds in the bench press at the CFL Combine.
He has played receiver, corner and has returned kicks.
If he can recover from his Achilles, he has a chance to make the back end of the roster. Of course, with the injury, he might end up stashed for a season on injured reserve like pass rusher Zack Wagenmann was last season.
