Could Nick Foles end up with Arizona Cardinals?

A recent rumor suggests it could happen

If you have followed the NFL recently, you know there are a couple of unhappy quarterbacks in the league. One is Nick Foles, quarterback of the Los Angeles Rams, who struggled a bit last season as a starter, was replaced by Case Keenum and now has seen the Rams give up a ton of draft picks to select Jared Goff first overall in this year's NFL Draft.

Foles was a no-show to the team's OTAs this past week and he reportedly wants out.

If and when that happens, there is a rumor out there he could land with the Arizona Cardinals. It comes from CBS Sports' Benjamin Allbright.

Wait...what? The Cardinals?

There is some logic to it.

He fits the physical profile Bruce Arians likes. He is 6-5 and weighs over 240 pounds. He has a strong arm. Foles has put up some good numbers against the Cardinals, so Arians has seen what Foles can do firsthand, including a performance in 2014 of over 400 yards against Arizona. Foles has beaten the Cardinals twice in four starts.

The Cardinals could use a quarterback to replace Carson Palmer in the next year or two.

Foles probably wouldn't mind coming back to Arizona, as he attended the University of Arizona.

The question is whether he would be content sitting behind Palmer and Drew Stanton. He is certainly better than Matt Barkley, so if you could have Foles or Barkley as your No. 3 QB, the answer is easy -- you take Foles every day of the week and twice on Sundays.

Foles has proven he can play at a high level. He also has had struggles.

However, if he is unhappy in Los Angeles, would he be any happier being the third string guy here? Perhaps, knowing he could compete for the starting job as early as next season.

If this rumor is true, it is more likely Foles likes the potential here than it is the Cardinals are looking at him as a possibility.

But if he becomes available and Foles is good with being the third stringer, and the price isn't too much, why not? He is definitely a better option than any other guy at No. 3.
