Arizona Cardinals Remove Mathieu, Bethel and Rucker from PUP List

The Arizona Cardinals are close to being healthy in training camp and more importantly for the start of the new season

It has been a while, but it looks like slowly but surely some experienced veterans and starters are getting healthy for the Arizona Cardinals.

It was announced today in Bruce Arians pre-practice press conference that veterans Tyrann Mathieu, Justin Bethel, and Frostee Rucker were all removed from the physically unable to perform list today.

While they will not be practicing this week, they will begin walk throughs, clearing them to be closer to playing in possibly the third or fourth (if the coaches want to see them on the field) preseason games, although Bruce Arians wouldn't go as far as saying they'd be ready week one though.

For Mathieu, it is just about seeing where he is in his rehab from another torn ACL, as soon as he is on the field, he is expected to start.

For Rucker and Bethel though, there time spent on the PUP list has resulted in them falling from expected starter positions.

Bethel especially will have an uphill battle having to overcome rookie cornerback Brandon Williams, who has continually impressed the coaching staff, even after the first preseason game when he was picked on by the Oakland Raiders.

Rucker though, he has to figure out where he will slot in to the defensive line rotation in what has become the strength of the defense. Can he win his starting job back?

It is good to see the veterans getting closer to a full comeback.
