Houston Texans Have a Lot of Arizona Connections

The Houston Texans are littered with Arizona football stars and some fighting to make the team.

With the Arizona Cardinals taking on the Houston Texans today it means there is a lot of crossover for Arizona sports fans, especially fans of the Arizona State Sun Devils.

The Cardinals will be taking on the biggest acquisition, not necessarily the best, an NFL team made this off season in Brock Osweiler.

The former Sun Devil signal caller left Denver after being yo-yoed in and out of the starting position to team up with renowned quarterback guru Bill O’Brien.  While his first two preseason games have been solid, if unspectacular going 16-26, for 61% completions, 151 yards one touchdown and one interception.

For Osweiler, one of his main targets in 2016 could be fellow Sun Devil alum Jaelen Strong.  Strong is entrenched as the starting wide receiver right now opposite the phenomenal DeAndre Hopkins and big things are being expected from the former Sun Devil star.

Through two preseason games, Strong has caught seven passes for 67 yards, and will be a nice little test for the Arizona Cardinals secondary.

If you are an Arizona Wildcats fan, well former Wildcat defensive end Dan Pettinato is fighting for a roster spot.  He probably will not see much action in the game against the Cardinals, but if he does, it will be lining up at defensive end for the Texans.

Houston also has a former high school player from Arizona on their roster, with long snapper Jon Weeks, a Mountain Ridge High School alum.  Weeks is in his seventh season with the Texans and is the only long snapper on the roster, so he should be good to go.

As Sun Devil fans, how do you cheer for your alums?  What is the protocol for when they face your team?  Obviously, it is preseason so it doesn’t hold as much weight, so you probably are okay if they play well, but what about regular season games?
