The Arizona Cardinals like the construction of their offensive line, even if they have not put together the most solid work in the preseason.
While the entirety of the offense has looked off, the offensive line, specifically the center position has looked like a position that could be upgraded for this season.
Enter the Minnesota Vikings, who look like they are ready to move on from their former starting center after Sullivan was a healthy scratch for the entirety of the Vikings third preseason game against the San Diego Chargers.
The question becomes would he be a player that could outplay A.Q. Shipley and keep Evan Boehm on the bench?
The reality is unlikely that the Arizona Cardinals would even entertain the idea of adding a player like Sullivan, who is 31 and coming off of a back injury, but more than that, is still owed nearly $11 million in salary. The Arizona Cardinals could trade for Sullivan and be on the hook for $5.4 million in 2016 and maybe nothing in 2017 if he doesn’t pan out.
The other issue is, Sullivan would have to replace an Arians guy in Shipley, who has played the role asked of him by Bruce Arians and is getting his chance.
Now if Sullivan is released, would it be someone the Arizona Cardinals would be willing to kick the tires on?
What do you think about adding a veteran like Sullivan to the offensive line, or is too late in the process?
