Arizona Cardinals release Chris Johnson among roster moves

The Cardinals are making moves on the roster.

The Arizona Cardinals made a move to acquire veteran running back Adrian Peterson from the New Orleans Saints for a 2018 6th round draft pick.

In a corresponding move they have released veteran running back and the teams "leading" rusher, Chris Johnson.

Johnson has been on the Cardinals roster each of the last three seasons, but finished on injured reserve in 2015 and 2016. This season, he just doesn't make it through the season.

It has been a rough season for the Arizona Cardinals in the running game and Johnson is the victim of circumstances as much as he is his own poor performance.

The Cardinals have rushed for 2.6 yards per carry on the season, worst in the NFL.

They have 259 yards rushing as a team, worst in the NFL.

Johnson will take the fall, but we all know it's not on him alone.

In another move, long snapper Aaron Brewer was placed on IR and Justin Drescher, veteran long snapper with the New Orleans Saints, was brought in to replace him.

This is likely the end of the line for CJ2K and if it is, good luck and congratulations on a fantastic career.
