The Good, the Bad and the Ugly: Cardinals Blown Out by Rams in London

NFL: International Series-Arizona Cardinals at Los Angeles Rams Steve Flynn-USA TODAY Sports

Well, stick a fork ‘em boys. The Rams have yet again hurt Carson Palmer QB and yet again whooped up on us (An NFC tradition at this point). Adrian Peterson was brought plummeting back to earth and John Skelton, I mean Derrick Anderson, I mean Drew Stanton continues to baffle fans. Why he was paid $4.5 million dollars? I don’t have any faith in Gabbert so don’t even.

The Good:

Uh… Bueller? Bueller?

Deone Bucannon had a really nice game. He wasn’t perfect in coverage, but he led the team in tackles, had a TFL and the only Cardinals turnover of the game. Great to see him back to his old self. He and Reddick could become a fearsome duo.

The Bad:

Cardinals playoff hopes just took a big hit. A division loss, plus a negative record mean the Cardinals will have to be near perfect the rest of the season to have any hope of a playoff appearance. I’m an optimist, but not that optimistic.

Watching the Aged-Ones go down with a whimper. Larry Fitzgerald, Adrian Peterson and Carson Palmer are all on their swan song season. Palmer and Peterson don’t personally mean much to me, but to watch Fitz have to end his career with another disappointing season is depressing.

The Ugly:

The defense has been horrible this season. On third down we’ve been atrocious. 13/19 against the Rams. No wonder we got blown out by 33 points. I’ve never been a fan of Bettcher, but I admit he’s led some top statistical defenses the last few years. Not this year though. Now it seems every OC, their kids, their uncles, their extended relatives, friends of friends and even their awkward roommate from college all know how to beat/out-play call Bettcher. Players have to make plays, but soft zone coverage on third down and short? That’ll work boss!

The offense got steam rolled. Palmer looked sharp to start, but the Rams started to get pressure after shutting down the run game. After that it was an INT and a lot of 3 and outs. Bucs game gave us false hope.

Carson Palmer is injured, again. If he’s out for a prolonged period, season is over. Well probably is anyways, but if so hopefully Keim scraps all the veterans for picks and salvages something.

Right now, the immediate future of the Cardinals looks bleak. However, there is a lot of young talent on the roster. If you’re a Cardinals fan you are one of two types of people, masochistic or optimistic. For you masochists, the rest of the season should be a real treat for you. For us optimists, great time to start looking at mock drafts and see which QB we will pass on this year!
