With the winter changing, the seasons over half way over, we know a lot about each NFL team.
That leads to a new set of lists.
The season of draft needs is upon us and Pro Football Focus came out with their list of needs for the Arizona Cardinals.
It is an interesting list of needs:
Quarterback: With Carson Palmer at the end of his career, it’s time to look to the future in Arizona and they’ll be very much in the first round mix at quarterback.
Of course quarterback is on the list. It is on every teams list that doesn’t have a young one, here is the list from PFF:
Buffalo Bills
New England Patriots
New York Jets
Cleveland Browns
Pittsburgh Steelers
Jacksonville Jaguars
Denver Broncos
Los Angeles Chargers
New York Giants
Washington Redskins
Minnesota Vikings
Eleven other teams need a quarterback according to PFF. How much worse do the Cardinals need one than these teams?
The more interesting observation was:
Offensive line: When Palmer was on the field this season, the line was not doing him any favors and upgrades could be in order at multiple spots. Tackle, guard, and center are all on the table for the Cardinals who need to revamp up front.
So... The Cardinals could need up to five new offensive lineman... Depending on the recovery of D.J. Humphries?
If we take Humphries as still a key member, the Cardinals need four new offensive lineman?
That’s crazy when you think how much Steve Keim has invested in the offensive line, while not getting really any returns on his investments.
What do you think?
How many new offensive lineman do you think the Cardinals need?
I would say two... with the caveat that I would say Evan Boehm should get a shot at center before they move on. That means fixing the right side. Re-sign Alex Boone and hope Humphries can stay healthy.
