In a season filled with injuries, it makes sense that two players that replaced key starters ended up on IR in the same week.
After right tackle turned back to left tackle Jared Veldheer was placed on IR this week after suffering a fractured ankle against the Titans, now veteran running back Adrian Peterson, who was supposed to replace David Johnson, is being placed on injured reserve.
Peterson was traded for in week six of the season and played in six games with the Cardinals gaining 529 yards on 156 carries, good for 3.4 yards per carry to go along with two rushing touchdowns.
Peterson added nine catches for 66 yards with the Cardinals in his lone season with the team.
However, a neck injury would cost him the rest of the season and the Cardinals will go forward with the triumvirate of Kerwynn Williams, D.J. Foster and Elijhaa Penny.
Peterson explained early this week when the injury occurred and the question was always when he'd come back.
Well, now we know… he may have played his last snap as an Arizona Cardinal.
