Even though it was only a matter of time, the Arizona Cardinals were officially eliminated from being able to participate in the postseason yesterday after their loss to the Washington Redskins. Losses tend to stack up when many of your best players land on Injured Reserve and you are on to your third string quarterback (who is looking worse and worse by the game).
So with the Rams running away with the NFC West division and the Cardinals being out of the hunt, what team will you be rooting for in the postseason? I give you my pick below...
The team that immediately popped into my head as a team to root for is the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Jags haven’t made the playoffs since 2007 and with a nice stock of young talent, they are finally set to win the AFC South and enter the postseason once again. Of course, they also employ Calais Campbell, a former beloved Cardinals player. I am personally tired of seeing the Steelers and the Patriots in the hunt for the AFC title every year (and it will likely be the same case this year), so seeing some fresh blood in the mix is refreshing.
If I had to choose an NFC team to root for, it would be the Minnesota Vikings. The amount of adversity they have had to overcome is staggering and the combination of Case Keenum and Teddy Bridgewater makes a story that is easy to root for.
What do you think? What team(s) are you rooting for once the playoffs start?
