Arizona Cardinals vs Los Angeles Rams: Arizona Cardinals Pro Football Focus grades against the Rams

How did the Arizona Cardinals perform?

NFL: Los Angeles Rams at Arizona Cardinals Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

Rams week is almost over, which means we can finally get the Pro Football Focus grades for the game and move on with our Arizona Cardinals fun.

Alex is otherwise disposed, so I’ll be giving you the PFF grades this week with my commentary.

Offense

Larry Fitzgerald - caught all ten of his targets for 98 yards, a touchdown, and a 140.8 passer rating. He caught passes against five different defenders and recorded an 82.0 overall grade. Clearly an off day at the office.

Fitz is on pace for: 109 receptions 1,170 yards 7 touchdowns

Blaine Gabbert - Gabbert had most of his success passing in between the numbers. He completed 13 of 18 passes for 161 yards, one touchdown and one interception inside the numbers. He struggled mightily throwing the ball outside the numbers where he completed four of 14 passes for 60 yards and an interception.

Not surprising, Gabbert’s work outside of the numbers is not nearly as extensive as his work between the numbers.s not ne

Alex Boone - Boone allowed a team-high 7 pressures, including a sack. His 44.9 overall grade was the lowest of the Arizona offensive linemen.

Kerwynn Williams - Williams managed to accrue 45 of his 97 rushing yards after contact. He also forced three missed tackles.

Ricky Seals-Jones - Seals-Jones was targeted five times, despite only playing on 12 pass plays. This season, Seals-Jones has only played 31 pass snaps and has a ridiculously high 61% target rate.

At what point do you expect the NFL to adjust that the ball is going to Seals-Jones when he is on the field?

Defense

Patrick Peterson - Peterson locked up the opposing team's best receiving threat. Peterson was only targeted twice, both on passes to Rams' WR Sammy Watkins. He only allowed one catch for 13 yards. Peterson is the only CB with more than 400 snaps to only be targeted less than 50 times this season. He has been targeted 43 times.

Budda Baker - rookie S Budda Baker struggled against the Rams. Baker was only able to get one pressure on eight pass rushes. He also allowed four of seven passes to be caught for 29 yards, two touchdowns, and a 106.5 passer rating.

Chandler Jones - Tallied 2 pressures, one of which was a sack and forced a fumble. He also added 2 run stops and recorded an 80.4 overall grade.

Josh Bynes - Bynes recorded three runs stops and seven total tackles. However, he allowed five of six passes to be caught for 75 yards and he had a missed tackle in coverage.

The Cardinals worst stat of the day...

The Cardinals blitzed on 57.6% of their plays, the NFL average is 29.6%. When they blitzed, Arizona was able to pressure the quarterback 35% of the time, but did not muster a sack.

That’s why they were struggling to stop the Rams passing attack.
