After meeting for his “newsmakers week” interview this morning on Arizona Sports, Cards team president Michael Bidwill was effusive in his belief that WR John Brown would see a return to form in 2017.
“He is very healthy” Bidwill said, indicating as well that the Cardinals had found the issue with Brown’s health.
John Brown had a career low season last year, with only two touchdowns and 517 yards on just 38 receptions, and his injury plagued the Cardinals receiving group that saw Jaron Brown lost to an ACL and Michael Floyd lost to drops and personal problems.
If Brown can come back to his 2015 form of 65 catches, over 1,000 yards and 7 touchdowns, he could have a huge impact next year when added to J.J. Nelson’s emergence last year as more than a deep-threat receiver.
With Larry Fitzgerald returning for another season, David Johnson’s late injury proving to be a minor one and Brown hopefully back to form, it’s possible the Cardinals receivers could return to dominance in 2017.
Whether or not the team decides to pursue another receiver, in free agency or the draft, will be determined over the next couple of months.
