There comes a time in every offseason where stories come up and you do not know what to believe.
Last week, on the Burns and Gambo show on 98.7 FM, that occurred.
During the show, Gambo talked about the Arizona Cardinals free agent situation and Jermaine Gresham, here is what was said:
“They’re willing to give Jermaine Gresham a contract of about $6 million a year,” according to Arizona Sports 98.7 FM’s John Gambadoro.
First, I thought... That makes sense.
Then I really thought about the numbers.
$6 million is probably what Tony Jefferson is going to get on the open market, maybe slightly more, $6 million may be able to pay Kevin Minter an D.J. Swearinger... Or maybe Sio Moore and Swearinger and a small free agent.
Also, Gresham was the second best receiving weapon in 2016 for the Arizona Cardinals and we saw how that turned out for everyone involved.
It is not that Gresham is not worth the money, based on the 2017 tight end salary scale he absolutely is, that would put him just in front in front of Jordan Reed and Zach Ertz. He has been healthier than Reed and about as productive as Ertz, so that is about right.
It just seems, with the money they have, it would be an interesting utilization of assets.
What do you think? Would you pay Gresham $6 million a year?
If that is the price tag, would you want him back?
