Three free agent offensive lineman that could fit the Arizona Cardinals

The Arizona Cardinals could bring in one of three discounted veterans to add some depth along the interior offensive line.

With free agency right around the corner, the Arizona Cardinals have some positions to address and some positions that just need a veteran presence to be brought in.

One position that needs that veteran presence, maybe not a starter or a difference maker, but someone who can help the young guys and be there if and when something comes up.

It would also help if they had some positional flexibility, playing either center or guard, and let’s be frank, they need to be relatively cheap.

Here are three free agents that fit the bill for the Arizona Cardinals in the 2017 offseason.

A.Q. Shipley - Obviously the first player we are all familiar with. He started at and played center all season for the Arizona Cardinals, playing well. He has the ability to fill in at center or guard, knows the Cardinals offense and is someone you can trust. He likely would be looking to be comfortable the rest of his career, as he is 30 years old. A two year, $2 million deal would nearly double Shipley’s career earnings and give the Cardinals a solid veteran.

Tim Lelito - Lelito played center and guard over his four years with the Saints and has done so mainly as a backup. He is like Shipley, more than adequate, but likely someone you can always upgrade if he is starting. As a swing backup in the interior though, his ability to play both positions effectively, and his likely cheap price tag could give the Arizona Cardinals the breathing room they want.

Stefen Wisniewski - Do you know who Wisniewksi played for last year? I will save the time of looking, the Philadelphia Eagles. He has bounced around the NFL to three teams over the last three years, usually as a backup. He is a solid, reliable veteran who has been in various situations over the last three seasons and always come out looking like a guy that could start. Unfortunately for Wis, that is what those of us on the outside see, not what the NFL sees.

While the names are not sexy, they are three cheap veteran players who could come in and give the Cardinals a peace of mind heading into the season with a young interior offensive line of Evan Boehm, Cole Toner, and John Wetzel.
