Arizona Cardinals to take on Dallas Cowboys in 2017 NFL Hall of Fame Game

In an announcement from the NFL, the Arizona Cardinals will be participating in the 2017 NFL Hall of Fame game.

The Pro Football Hall of Fame today announced that the Arizona Cardinals will play the Dallas Cowboys to kick off the preseason on Thursday, August 3 at 5:00 PM MST in the 2017 Hall of Fame Game in Canton, OH at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium.

The Arizona Cardinals played in the first ever Hall of Fame Game against the New York Giants in 1962, to a 21-21 tie.

The last time the Arizona Cardinals played in the NFL Hall of Fame Game was in 2012 against the New Orleans Saints.

The Arizona Cardinals are in a much different spot this time around though.

The Arizona Cardinals were picked to play the Dallas Cowboys because of Kurt Warner’s entrance to the NFL Hall of Fame, while the Cowboys will be celebrating their owners induction into the NFL Hall of Fame.

Warner is the 13th Hall of Famer who has played a large part of their career with the Arizona Cardinals, those other 12 include in a release from the Arizona Cardinals:

Bidwill, Sr. (Owner, Class of 1967), Jimmy Conzelman (Coach, Class of 1964), T Dan Dierdorf (Class of 1996), HB John “Paddy” Driscoll (Class of 1965), CB Dick “Night Train” Lane (Class of 1974), HB Ollie Matson (Class of 1972), HB Ernie Nevers (Class of 1963), TE Jackie Smith (Class of 1994), HB Charley Trippi (Class of 1968), CB Roger Wehrli (Class of 2007), CB Aeneas Williams (Class of 2014) and S Larry Wilson (Class of 1978).
