Arizona Cardinals rebuild their defense in this mock 2017 NFL Draft

Going with defense early, middle and late to rebuild the Arizona Cardinals defense.

NCAA Football: South Florida at Temple Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports

With the 2017 NFL Draft just 62 days away and free agency a week away, we know where the Arizona Cardinals need help on defense.

They need more talent on the defensive line, they need an inside linebacker, they need a safety and of course, more corner depth.

Well, what if they were able to address all of those needs in the 2017 NFL Draft in the first four rounds?

This weeks mock takes a look at a possible, if highly unlikely scenario playing out.

Round 1 Pick 13 - Solomon Thomas, DE Stanford

Thomas is a little bit smaller than your normal defensive end in a 3-4 defense, but he is one of the most explosive players in the draft and he is able to win in a number of different ways and alignments on defense. If the Arizona Cardinals had a shot to take him, and were not interested in a quarterback, I don’t know if they could pass.

Round 2 Pick 45 - Haason Reddick, LB Temple

Reddick is making the move from edge to being an off ball linebacker. He has the athleticism to play this role and excel in it in the NFL.

After the first two picks I still wasn’t sure what direction this draft was going, but when the third round pick was up, it became obvious this was going to be a defensive focused mock.

Round 3 Pick 77 - Marcus Williams, S Utah

The long, lean and athletic Williams has the deep free safety ability teams seek out. He is not an overly physical player, but he has the ability to play deep centerfield, make plays on the backend and the ball skills to force turnovers.

I thought about Elflein or Butt, or my draft crush Taywan Taylor, but rounding out the defensive mock was too easy.

Round 4 Pick 109 - Rasul Douglas, CB West Virginia

Douglas has one thing you can’t teach... size. At 6-2 204lbs, Douglas is a big, press and trail corner who could come in and learn for a season, but has the upside to be a special player. In round four, that is what you are looking for.

What would you have done?
