What a whirlwind first day of free agency in the NFL. Teams spent money, players made more money and the Arizona Cardinals lost a lot of talent. A lot of it.
They also added some nice players, some veteran players and players that can help out both on the field and in the locker room.
The biggest additions yesterday consisted of safety Antoine Bethea, who comes over from the San Francisco 49ers. He will do a nice job replacing what the Cardinals lost in Tony Jefferson at and around the line of scrimmage. He is a little long in the tooth, but he gives the Cardinals a proven, capable player on the backend of their defense.
Another big addition was the re-signing, for the third time, of linebacker Karlos Dansby. He needs to introduction, so just, welcome back.
Finally, maybe the most intriguing signing was that of Phil Dawson. Dawson, the 42 year old, 18 year veteran kicker brings a consistency and steadiness to the position, how long he stays or can he hold off a young contender remains to be seen, but it was a nice addition.
The Cardinals also brought back A.Q. Shipley, which is a good signing.
As more rumors come up, we will have them for you here.
Enjoy the day, talk football and remember, Go Cardinals.
