When Keim says something, I believe him. It's about that time to start thinking about the quarterback position, and putting your name to a prospect. Even if Carson Palmer and Drew Stanton come back after this season (hardly doubt it for Palmer), the age concern has to weigh on your mind. Palmer could be the transition quarterback if he decides to come back next year, while still appearing as the possible starter.

That being said, Patrick Mahomes was rock solid for Texas Tech, and quite honestly, I can see the comp of Jay Cutler in this particular prospect. Someone who really had to develop pocket presence, as Mahomes was pressured on so many occasions. I think BA will greatly appreciate the arm strength and velocity that Mahomes has, and other then the guy who he replaced in Texas Tech (Davis Webb), this is the perfect pick for the Cardinals at QB. As long as you get him prepared for the pro game while he redshirts the first year, you then have the perfect option.

To be a corner opposite Patrick Peterson, you have to have confidence in your abilities. Justin Bethel and Brandon Williams could be "that guy", but that doesn't mean you don't look towards the future.

If Brandon Williams is any sign of the type of attributes the Cardinals look for, let it be one: Speed, dear sir. That's why I chose Myrick, someone who impressed at the scouting combine, and proved to be very fluid when turning his hips. That's what you're asking for in a slot corner, where there are a lot of scenarios where you will need an immediate contributor this year. Myrick didn't become a full-time stater until his junior year, so he might need time for development. Start stacking corners, that's what I would tell the Cardinals.

When making this selection, I understand there are other players that might seem talent-wise; very talented. It's more about schematical fit, with the Cardinals being very top-heavy in the run game. David Johnson will be back from an injury, hoping to put together an MVP caliber season, while Carson Palmer NEEDS better pass protection.

Nico Siragusa is almost as good as Mike Iupati was when Iupati was coming out, as Siragusa is a standout run blocker who is a finisher. Don't think too much about it, if the Cardinals can pave way for David Johnson, then they can reach those new heights they're looking for. The O-line suffered because of injuries (Veldheer, Evan Mathis especially), they could be looking for more stability this year. That's why Siragusa wouldn't be a reach.

If you're going to draft a quarterback in the first round, might as well address the second biggest elephant in the Cardinals war room (excluding safety and more corner help), which is a replacement option for Larry Fitzgerald/John Brown. I love John Brown, there shouldn't be a doubt that the Cardinals will do what they have to do to keep Brown, but they need more help.

In this mock, I've gone three offensive players and one defensive player. I will stand on the table for Robert Davis, someone who has unbelievable hops and might be the highest ceiling in terms of where we get Davis. I think the pairing of Mahomes and Davis is important, as thought these two guys can develop each other. I think Davis has great hands. Look out for his speed, has a little bit of a problem with getting stuffed at the line.
