With free agency set to start only days away, we look at whether or not the Cardinals could be interested in three players the Jets have released. Within the past week, the Jets have released Nick Mangold, Brandon Marshall, and Darrelle Revis. We now look into each one and see if this is a player the Cardinals might take a look at.
Starting with Nick Mangold: He has been in this league since 2006. He is a seven time pro bowler and has been a staple for the Jets' line for years. The Cardinals had A.Q. Shipley this past year. Shipley did a decent job on the offensive line and was one of the few consistent players on the offensive line. The Cardinals also have Evan Boehm who was just a rookie last year. It will also depend on how much Mangold will get in free agency and whether the Cardinals have more pressing needs such as guard.
Brandon Marshall: Marshall has also been in the league since 2006 and is a six time pro bowler. He had a tremendous season two years ago with the Jets and has always been the main target for teams he has played for. The Cardinals could use that since they are looking for another big bodied guy to help Larry and the other receivers on the team. Bruce Arians also is not shy about adding a veteran player to help out the team. Marshall hashad his problems in the past, was even a feud with Sheldon Richardson after a week 3 loss. The Cardinals do have veteran players that I believe would keep Marshall in check, but depending on how the market shakes out and how much would Arizona be willing to spend on Marshall.
The last one, and I feel the most intriguing guy, is Darrelle Revis.
Darrelle Revis is a man to man corner that has been great since coming into the league in 2007. Numerous times has been considered the best corner in the NFL, but last year he struggled. He was the Jets number one CB and would face the best of the best each week. If he was picked up by the Cardinals he wouldn't be asked to do that. He would face the second best WR week in and week out. Could Revis be the Antonio Cromartie acquisition just a few years ago? The one question is - What is Revis facing criminally?
Could this factor into him never playing again or other teams waiting to see what gets resolved. Could the Cardinals get him for cheap and help out the other CB position?
It will be interesting to see what the Cardinals do in free agency and if any of these three will be added. Would you want the Cardinals to add any of these free agents from the Jets? If so which one?
