With the 2017 NFL Draft now 17 days away, I thought it would be fun to introduce a daily poll of prospects.
That means, every day, two prospects will be pit against one another, from the same position, to figure out which 18 prospects the Arizona Cardinals fans prefer the most at pick 13.
The idea is that if we have 18, we should have a good shot at getting one on draft day.
Some will double up, quarterback, some will be names you aren’t sure about, and some will be hard decisions.
After two days, our prospect board, it will simply be a list of the names, looks like this:
Corey Davis, WR, Western Michigan
Reuben Foster, LB, Alabama
Today, we get into a case of two defensive lineman that could help reestablish the Arizona Cardinals defensive line: Jonathan Allen vs Malik McDowell
Jon Allen, DT, Alabama - One of the more dominant defensive lineman coming out in the last several drafts, Allen does not possess the elite athleticism of some defensive lineman, but he wins in a number of ways from a number of positions. He is technically refined, works well taking on double teams and can win using speed or power in pass rushing situations from the interior.
The issue is, as with all Alabama players, is... Medicals. His shoulders have taken him from top ten lock to... top 15? Top 20? Top 25? No one really knows because of those medical concerns and how he plays using that power.
Malik McDowell, DL, Michigan State - Maybe the most physically gifted defensive player in this draft, which is saying something, but the lack of big time production concerns many.
McDowell has the ability to play all along the defensive front and win. He has the ability to win with speed on the interior or outside, but also has a special ability to play with power along the interior when needed.
Who would you take on the Arizona Cardinals?
