It is a different time in the NFL, where arrests are standard operating procedure and players are expected to get chance after chance.
Well, USA Today has a list of arrests per NFL team and I went through it and it became more evident why the Arizona Cardinals made a swift move on Michael Floyd.
Going back to 2000, the Arizona Cardinals have had 22 arrests... However, since Steve Keim and Bruce Arians took over, they have had nine players arrested, Marquis Bundy being the most recent.
From 2000-2010 the Arizona Cardinals had 13 arrests, which is a lot but basically a little over one a year. 2011 and 2012 there were no arrests.
Now, since 2013 the Cardinals have averaged more than two arrests a year: three in 2013, two in 2014 and 2015 and now one each in 2016 and 2017.
The Cardinals cutting Floyd immediately after his arrest makes a little more sense now, they don’t want to be one of the teams that ends up in the news multiple times a year for the wrong reason.
