With only five days left until the 2017 NFL Draft, we are on the cusp of having a pretty great top 18 big board for the Arizona Cardinals. We have a nice mixture of top talent, risers, fallers and players who could be instant impact guys.
We have two more saves left, before we get to our final three votes to get to our final 18 player board.
Corey Davis, WR, Western Michigan
Reuben Foster, LB, Alabama
Jonathan Allen, DL, Alabama
Gareon Conley, CB, Ohio State
Jamal Adams, S, LSU
Patrick Mahomes II, QB, Texas Tech
Malik McDowell, DL, Michigan State
Haason Reddick, LB, Temple
Jabrill Peppers, DB, Michigan
O.J. Howard, TE, Alabama
Solomon Thomas, DE, Stanford
Obi Melifonwu, S, UConn
Deshaun Watson, QB, Clemson
On top of that, I'll have my 75 player target list on a horizontal board for Thursday, plus updates for Friday and Saturday.
It's going to be a busy, fun week, so let's embrace the chaos for five more days.
Today, we face off with a big time test, two Ohio State defensive backs.
I thought about doing it differently, but this is just the way it has to be.
Malik Hooker, S, Ohio State - The most dynamic defensive back to come out in quite a few years, Hooker is the prototype, ball hawking safety. He has instincts, athleticism and a unique understanding on how to play the position in a single high alignment. We have seen him compared to players like... Ed Reed, Earl Thomas, etc.
Here’s the thing, that is a terrible comparison for him and a reason I strongly dislike singular comparisons. What happens if Hooker just becomes a Reggie Nelson or Reshad Jones, two Pro Bowl type players but not Hall of Famers? Will you be disappointed?
Marshon Lattimore, CB, Ohio State - We are seeing that Lattimore may not even be the first cornerback off the board as it looks like Gareon Conley is getting pushed up.
If Lattimore were to fall, you’d think he would be the ideal fit across from Patrick Peterson.
There are concerns, he has trouble staying healthy, he has one year only of production at the position.
His hamstrings are made of tissue paper apparently.
Yet, he seems like the most natural fit for the Arizona Cardinals.
