With only four days left until the 2017 NFL Draft, we are on the cusp of having a pretty great top 18 big board for the Arizona Cardinals. We have a nice mixture of top talent, risers, fallers and players who could be instant impact guys.
We have a heated battle going on for one save and I expect nothing less for our save today to help get to our final 18 player board.
Corey Davis, WR, Western Michigan
Reuben Foster, LB, Alabama
Jonathan Allen, DL, Alabama
Gareon Conley, CB, Ohio State
Jamal Adams, S, LSU
Patrick Mahomes II, QB, Texas Tech
Malik McDowell, DL, Michigan State
Haason Reddick, LB, Temple
Jabrill Peppers, DB, Michigan
O.J. Howard, TE, Alabama
Solomon Thomas, DE, Stanford
Obi Melifonwu, S, UConn
Deshaun Watson, QB, Clemson
On top of that, I'll have my 75 player target list on a horizontal board for Thursday, plus updates for Friday and Saturday.
It's going to be a busy, fun week, so let's embrace the chaos for five more days.
Today, the last quarterback on the list. We already have Patrick Mahomes and , today we add one.
Mitch Trubisky, QB, North Carolina - Not going to say much here, but I’ll quote some of Dink’s work and link if you want to read the whole thing:
Trubisky is an above average athlete with a filled out, 220-pound frame. He has a plus arm that can attack all levels of the field, and a great understanding of the pocket with ability to manipulate defenses with his eyes. As with the rest of the top quarterbacks, there will be questions about transitioning from a spread concept offense into an NFL O. Trubisky physically is near max at his age, and now it will come down to the staff in place maximizing the traits he brings to the table at the next level.
DeShone Kizer, QB, Notre Dame - You can read a full breakdown on Kizer from Justin, here.
He’s a strong-armed downfield passer who doesn’t appear rattled regardless of down or distance. The inconsistencies in his game can be expected from a 20-year old, but he’s shown the ability to pick up first downs and punch the ball in through the air or on the ground.
Or from Dink, here.
Kizer may be the most intriguing quarterback prospect in this draft, as his ceiling is maybe as high as we have seen in a handful of years. He has the size, athleticism, and arm, and he’s still learning the position. Earlier this year, Bruce Feldman reported that Kizer was a three-sport star in high school, and didn’t do anything to focus on learning the finer points of quarterbacking outside of football season.
