With only two days left until the 2017 NFL Draft, we are on the cusp of having a pretty great top 18 big board for the Arizona Cardinals. We have a nice mixture of top talent, risers, fallers and players who could be instant impact guys.
Corey Davis, WR, Western Michigan
Reuben Foster, LB, Alabama
Jonathan Allen, DL, Alabama
Gareon Conley, CB, Ohio State
Jamal Adams, S, LSU
Patrick Mahomes II, QB, Texas Tech
Malik McDowell, DL, Michigan State
Haason Reddick, LB, Temple
Jabrill Peppers, DB, Michigan
O.J. Howard, TE, Alabama
Solomon Thomas, DE, Stanford
Obi Melifonwu, S, UConn
Deshaun Watson, QB, Clemson
Malik Hooker, S, Ohio State
DeShone Kizer, QB Notre Dame
Forrest Lamp, OL, Western Kentucky
On top of that, I'll have my 75 player target list on a horizontal board for Thursday, plus updates for Friday and Saturday.
Today, we look at two names on the defensive side of the ball.
Derek Barnett, Edge, Tennessee - The 6-3 260lbs Barnett is one of the most productive sack artist in SEC history, despite being a limited athlete. Barnett tallied 10 sacks as a freshman and sophomore before recording 12 sacks as a junior. He plays with active, strong hands, the ability to win inside and out as a rusher.
Problems countering and limited athleticism will cause many to question him, but he plays with a similar mentality and chip as Markus Golden.
Can you ever have enough pass rushers?
Zach Cunningham, LB, Vanderbilt - Maybe the best pure inside linebacker in this class, Cunningham is a long, lean athlete with range and the ability to make plays when asked to take on blockers or in a run and chase mode.
His biggest issue is as he gets tired, he starts to play too high, trying to make plays tackling backs high and take on blockers high.
He was a one man wrecking crew at Vandy, and getting help at the next level could make him even better.
