For the Arizona Cardinals, 2017 was about finding their future quarterback. However, the rest of the NFL teams had different ideas, as the Kansas City Chiefs and Houston Texans jumped in front of the Cardinals to take Patrick Mahomes II and Deshaun Watson.
Maybe that was for the best, as the board fell into the Arizona Cardinals hands and allowed them to take Haason Reddick, the dynamic linebacker out of Temple.
Reddick took off during the Senior Bowl week, moving from working as an edge defender to an off ball linebacker and excelled. The reason, was initially a defensive back, so playing in space is natural too him.
Reddick is a special athlete, his 40 time was what caught everyone's eyes, but his vertical and broad jump were elite for his position.
He’ll have some work to do, he has to learn to work through the trash from the linebacker position, but his athleticism and ability to cover, plus familiarity with rushing the passer, makes him a uniquely skilled and diverse player.
Reddick will likely learn under Karlos Dansby in 2017 and play in specific situations during the season that allow him to use his explosive athletic ability and not have to think too much.
He will pair with Deone Bucannon to make one of the most dynamic set of inside linebackers in the NFL.
