The Arizona Cardinals have had a very productive 2017 NFL Draft through the first four rounds.
In the fifth round, it is all about maximizing the risk of the pick. Can you get a fifth rounder who not only can make a talented roster in 2017, but one who can potentially be a contributor down the line?
That is what the Arizona Cardinals did in selecting Will Holden, OT, Vanderbilt with their first pick in the fifth round.
Recent fifth round picks for the Cardinals, Marqui Christian and Shaquille Riddick are still in the NFL, but not with the Cardinals. However, Ed Stinson, J.J. Nelson and Cole Toner are all still with the team. They all have had varying levels of success, but it goes to show, you take risks in the fifth round and beyond to try and find the Nelson’s of the world.
