Arizona Cardinals take T.J. Logan with second 5th round pick in 2017 NFL Draft

NCAA Football: Virginia Tech at North Carolina Bob Donnan-USA TODAY Sports

The Arizona Cardinals have put an emphasis on day two of addressing maybe the present, but definitely preparing for the future. Dorian Johnson and Will Holden both have potential to be starters in 2018 and beyond and allow the Arizona Cardinals to move on from some bigger, veteran contracts.

That is a good utilization of assets.

Now for the second pick in round five, the Arizona Cardinals have added T.J. Logan, RB, North Carolina.

Logan ran a blistering 4.37 40 yard dash and could be a dynamic return man and satellite running back, that the Cardinals use in space to give David Johnson a break but also in unison with DJ.

Recent fifth round picks for the Cardinals, Marqui Christian and Shaquille Riddick are still in the NFL, but not with the Cardinals. However, Ed Stinson, J.J. Nelson and Cole Toner are all still with the team. They all have had varying levels of success, but it goes to show, you take risks in the fifth round and beyond to try and find the Nelson’s of the world.

Round 1 - Haason Reddick, LB, Temple
Round 2 - Budda Baker, DB, Washington
Round 3 - Chad Williams, WR, Grambling
Fourth Round - Dorian Johnson, OG, Pitt
Fifth Round - Will Holden, OT, Vanderbilt
Fifth Round -
Seventh Round - 221st overall
Seventh Round - 231st overall
