It is always an emotional time when a draft prospect realizes his dream and gets the call that he is being picked in the NFL Draft. For Chad Williams, that call was even more special in the 2017 NFL Draft.
Williams comes from a small school, Grambling, part of the HBCU, and had some off the field problems.
Those off field issues led to a suspension during his senior season, but also resulted in Williams not being invited to the 2017 NFL Scouting Combine.
A non-combine invite is death knell for nearly any prospect, but a smaller school prospect who didn’t get a chance to run, it would be even harder to overcome.
However, for Williams, his off field issues did not dissuade Steve Keim and Bruce Arians, they did their due diligence and took a chance on the explosive Williams.
It was all caught on tape, as Williams and his family wept tears of joy at what Williams has accomplished and him reaching his goal of being drafted in the NFL when he got the call from the Arizona Cardinals.
Now comes the next part and Williams will knock that out of the park as well, I have no doubt.
