Arizona Cardinals made a contract offer to LeGarrette Blount per report

The Cardinals were willing to risk a compensatory pick for the NFL leader in rushing touchdowns.

The Arizona Cardinals have been quiet in free agency even as the time for free agents to count towards compensatory picks has come and gone.

We expected once that happened the Cardinals would become slightly more active in free agency, looking to address any lingering questions on their roster.

One question may be a back up running back and the Cardinals may have seen an answer in LeGarrette Blount.

According to NFL.com's Ian Rapaport the Cardinals and New York Giants had both offered contracts to Blount before the free agent running back decided to sign in Philadelphia with the Eagles.

This is really out of left field.

Despite the time for free agent signings counting in the comp picks formula be over, the New England Patriots had used a little known tender on LeGarrette Blount that extended his window towards counting to comp picks through June.

Were the Cardinals really interested in signing Blount, the 2016 rushing touchdown leader in exchange for losing a comp pick?

If so, would you have been on board? It could not have been for more than one season as you would expect Blount would have chosen a multi year offer from AZ or the NYG over Philly's one year offer, right?

This is all very interesting news.
