If there is one thing that a writer can do when they have an odd or bad take, is at least being consistent with the take.
Yesterday, we talked about the Arizona Cardinals biggest offseason mistake was not drafting a quarterback in 2017.
While 95% of Cardinals fans would disagree with this take, it is a take that is out there and being thrown around.
Now, the same writer is doubling down, with an article that says Carson Palmer is the person on the Arizona Cardinals on the hottest seat in 2017:
Palmer has enjoyed a nice career, but at the age of 37 his rate-based numbers plummeted in 2016, and it's beginning to look as though his Pro Bowl 2015 campaign was a late-career aberration (he also threw 22 interceptions in 2013 and started just six games in 2014).
While we have discussed Palmer a couple of times on this website, one thing we have been able to really explain was that Palmer’s 2015 was an outlier in a good to very good overall career, it was still an outlier.
However, apparently others disagree:
another bad season from Palmer could force the Cardinals, who are trying to remain in contention, to find a new starting quarterback in free agency or the draft.
While Palmer’s 2016 wasn’t great, calling it bad seems like an extreme at best and just flat out wrong at worst.
However, Palmer’s seat is not hot, because it has an end date. He is under contract in 2018 and there isn’t a better option right now, so until there is, Palmer’s seat can’t really be that hot... Can it?
