The Arizona Cardinals have added veteran depth to their running back room as Chris Johnson will be back for his third season with the Arizona Cardinals.
From Kent Somers:
RB Chris Johnson is signing a 1-year contract with the Cardinals today, per NFL source.

The Cardinals, who are about to start their 2017 training camp, have a young running back room as Kerwynn Williams was the veteran of the group.
Now, with Chris Johnson back, the Cardinals have that veteran presence to relieve David Johnson, help T.J. Logan get ready for the NFL and maybe be a mentor to the continued growth of Williams or Elijhaa Penny. Is Andre Ellington still in the fold?
That's the question, who is or are the odd man/men out with this re-signing?
It seems a lock that Johnson, Johnson and Logan are on the roster, that means there may be only one spot for three players.
Maybe the Cardinals keep five running backs, but at the result of what other position being light?
Anyway you slice it, the last spot or spots at the running back position just became a little more interesting.
From the team on what Johnson has done in his two years with Arizona:
“Johnson (5-11, 203) played in four games last season with the Cardinals and had 95 rushing yards and a touchdown before he was placed on injured reserve on October 4 (groin). He rushed for a team-high 814 yards on 196 carries (4.2 yard avg.) with the Cardinals in 2015 and had three touchdowns and four 100-yard rushing games.”
Are you excited to see Johnson back?
