As we head into the 2017 NFL season one thing is certain, the Arizona Cardinals are counting on Carson Palmer.
How important is Carson Palmer to the Cardinals? Well, we all know the answer to that, the team goes as he goes.
However, it is always interesting, at least to me, what others think of the Cardinals and their players.
Monday Morning Quarterback’s Andy Benoit ranked 400 players in the NFL, the Arizona Cardinals were heavily represented, but his placement of Carson Palmer on the list of not only players, but quarterbacks was one to see:
RANK 155
Arizona Cardinals
Carson Palmer
QB
Was Palmer's 2016 decline a result of injuries or age? If he's close to what he was in 2015, the Cardinals will contend for an NFC West title. Palmer fits Arizona's offense as nicely as any quarterback fits his respective team's offense.
Palmer was ranked 155 in the NFL and as the 13th best quarterback in the NFL, the 12 above him:
- Tom Brady
- Aaron Rodgers
- Ben Roethlisberger
- Matt Ryan
- Andrew Luck
- Drew Brees
- Philip Rivers
- Eli Manning
- Matthew Stafford
- Derek Carr
- Joe Flacco
- Russell Wilson
While Palmer’s place on the overall list can be debated, I find Palmer’s ranking about right amongst his peers.
However, I think that because in my opinion, the Manning, Stafford, Flacco, Carr grouping can all be interchanged. At which point, I would move Wilson up above them, then it’s really a pick your flavor type of event.
Anyway you slice it, Palmer is still relatively well thought of, at least to one writer.
