Arizona Cardinals sign veteran cornerback Tramon Williams

With the news of the Ronald Zamort injury, the Arizona Cardinals have added a veteran corner.

The Arizona Cardinals have signed veteran cornerback Tramon Williams.

From the team:

“Williams (6-0, 192) played the past two seasons with Cleveland (2015-16) after playing eight seasons with Green Bay (2007-14). A Pro Bowl selection with the Packers in 2010, Williams’ 30 career interceptions are tied for fifth among active NFL players. He has at least one interception in each of his 10 NFL seasons, tying DeAngelo Hall for the second most such seasons among active NFL players (Terence Newman-14).”

Williams is one of the older players in the NFL, but he has also been a steady producer who has stayed healthy at cornerback over the last several years... Until last year.

In 2016 Williams missed parts of several games with toe, shoulder and knee issues, and when he did play, the analysts at Pro Football Focus were not high on him, as he finished 101 out of 119 corners ranked in 2016.

However, he was a strong piece in the Browns secondary in 2015 after several good years in Green Bay before that.

Could it have been the all around anemic Browns secondary?

We'll know soon enough.
