The Los Angeles Rams have underachieved, there's no denying that. Now, they have their young quarterback in Jared Goff and are looking to get back into the thick of the NFC West.
The problem? They lack talent around Goff to give him a shot to be good, and let's face it he was atrocious as a rookie.
Well, they have tried to rectify that today with a trade with the Buffalo Bills for Sammy Watkins.
Bills have acquired CB E.J. Gaines and Rams 2018 second round pick for WR Sammy Watkins and Bills 2018 sixth round pick.

Watkins career has been marred by injuries, but when he is on the field, he has shown the ability to be a unique talent.
The problem is, availability is the most important asset for any player or prospect and Watkins hasn't always been available.
Yet, if you're the Rams it really seems like the perfect gamble to take.
Watkins gives you a true number one receiver, a player for Goff to grow with, and it cost you a conrerback you weren't going to be able to re-sign and a second round pick (likely a top 40 pick but still).
All this is of course dependent on the Rams being able to re-sign Watkins.
If they don't, then it was a complete waste and the Cardinals will continue to reap the benefits of the Rams ineptitude. If they do, it makes Watkins the best receiver not named Larry Fitzgerald in the division… now can their quarterback get him the ball?
I have my doubts, but maybe that's just my Cardinals fandom.
