It has been over two decades since the Arizona Cardinals and Atlanta Falcons have faced off in the preseason, and yet, today’s game is a big one for Atlanta.
They christen their new stadium, which is supposed to be one of the greatest stadiums in the NFL.
For the game, well the Cardinals are looking at themselves from two seasons ago and wondering how close they are to getting back to that level of play.
I would say the Cardinals need an upgrade in the receiving corps, but they likely have a stronger defense. The question is, can the Cardinals defense stop the Falcons offense enough? Even if it is the preseason, it is a nice early test to see where the Cardinals are in the pecking order of the NFC.
Last season, the Cardinals offense couldn’t keep pace and the Falcons defense looked like the superior unit in the 38-19 thrashing in Atlanta.
