We’re two weeks from real games. Saturday was simply an appetizer to what the Cardinals can do in 2017.
We saw some guys shine in the Cardinals 24-14 victory over Atlanta, and some of them even deserve a game ball for their efforts. Luckily here at Revenge of the Birds, we have a weekly segment where we offer up some names, and the fans will vote for who gets the hypothetical game ball. So, without further ado, let's vote!
Brown will certainly get my vote. He only caught two passes but made both counts as he scored on both occasions. He looked like the 2015 player who was electric and a crucial factor to the team's success. If the Cardinals can get him healthy, they will have what they expected out of their receiving corps in 2015.
Mathieu has had a very good camp, and he continues to get better. He showed people once again that he is a force to be reckoned with. On a play where Karlos Dansby batted a ball into the air, Mathieu showed his ability to track the ball and made a play on it. He now has an interception in back to back games, and ended camp by getting a pick in nearly every practice.
Markus Golden/Chandler Jones:
Yes, I am cheating here. Both players looked good on Saturday, and since they both feed off of each other they’re being lumped together. Both players were beating their blocker on nearly every snap. Golden forced an incomplete pass on 4th down and picked up a strip sack on the defenses last possession. Who picked up said fumble? Why none other than Chandler Jones. Both players appear to be in midseason form.
Capi has done nothing else but impress coaches and fans. He had another good game on Saturday, racking up seven tackles, 1.5 sacks, six pressures, and was a disruptive force all night. He should be in line to get a 53 man roster spot, considering Jarvis Jones has missed a lot of practice and game time.
What say you? Is there a player or group I missed? Be sure to vote down below!
