Arizona Cardinals David Johnson to have wrist surgery, sidelined for 2-3 months

The news is not good for the Arizona Cardinals running back.

NFL: Arizona Cardinals at Detroit Lions Tim Fuller-USA TODAY Sports

The Arizona Cardinals will be without their best player for the next two to three months after David Johnson decided to undergo surgery on his dislocated wrist.

This is the news we were waiting for and it was just as bitter now as it was when it leaked this was the likely outcome and Johnson will go on the injured reserve with a chance to return as early as week nine if he is healthy.

For the Cardinals, it will be a group effort to replace the production and effectiveness that Johnson brought to the table and made the Arizona Cardinals offensive attack so effective.

Kerwynn Williams will be the main back, getting the first crack of replacing David Johnson in the running game.

We will see the revival of Andre Ellington, could we get another #FreeEllington movement? Ellington will be the main receiving option.

Even Elijhaa Penny will get some game action this season as he looks to show his worth and carve out a niche in the NFL.

D.J. Foster was brought in to get some work in the return game and give the Cardinals another receiving option out of the backfield if anything happens to Ellington.

There could also be a free agent brought in later if things are not looking like Bruce Arians and company like.

Good luck and quick healing for David Johnson.
