The news just keeps getting worse with David Johnson.
Expected to miss 2-3 months after his wrist surgery, Bruce Arians was on his weekly Sirius XM radio show and dropped an interesting nugget:
"Hoping we can get him back by Christmas" - Arians on @DavidJohnson31 #BeRedSeeRed
— SiriusXM NFL Radio (@SiriusXMNFL) September 13, 2017
This is a significantly longer time than the potential November 7th date that was the hope and the likely Thanksgiving day based on the diagnosis and treatment.
If the Arizona Cardinals are still in playoff hunt around Christmas, then bringing Johnson back would make sense.
However, if the Cardinals are out if it, is there a reason to even bring back Johnson at that late of the date? I understand wanting to get him some work this season, but at that point, for him and the team, isn't it just better to call it a lost year?
No matter how you slice it, the Cardinals took a big blow in game one of the NFL season. How they adjust will be a really great storyline to follow this season.
