During Arians daily press conference, he announced three starters will be held out from their Sunday matchup against the Colts. None of the names are truly surprising, but their loss always hurts.
Mike Iupati, John Brown, and DJ Humphries will all be watching from the sidelines as the team tries to rebound from a week one loss. Humphries was expected to miss this game anyway, and possibly the teams week three matchup. John Wetzel will start at left tackle, leaving Veldheer on the right side.
Iupati continues to battle a triceps injury, which looked to be what was causing him difficulty in week one. Alex Boone will get the start in his place.
John Brown sat out of practice all week. He continues to battle his sickle cell disease as well as a quadriceps injury he sustained in camp. Chad Williams will see his first NFL game, but there’s no word on how much he will play.
Jermaine Gresham did not practice as well, but Arians did not rule him out. I’d expect him to be a game time decision, but do not see him playing.
Troy Niklas was a limited participant on Thursday as well as Friday. The addition of Jim Dray will be the team safety net if neither Niklas or Gresham can go. Ifyeani Momah would figure to be the starter.
Robert Nkemdiche will be a go on Sunday. Arians said he will have his usual role.
Deon Bucannon will be a game time decision, but Arians said he would be cautious. So expect him to sit as well.
On the Colts side of the ball they will be without six players.
Andrew Luck will again be out with his shoulder injury. Chuck Pagano would not say who the starter will be, but several reports have said Jacoby Brissett.
The rest are:
- C Ryan Kelly
- ILB Antonio Morrison
- ILB Anthony Walker
- CB Vontae Davis
- S Darius Butler
The game will kick off at 10 am in Arizona on Fox.
