Two players who figure to be a crucial piece to the teams success in 2017 will be game-time decisions according to Head Coach Bruce Arians. Mike Iupati is battling a triceps injury he sustained in the teams preseason game against the Chicago Bears. While the decision to sign Alex Boone could have been due to Iupati’s health, it is John Wetzel who is penciled in as the man to fill in at left guard.
Robert Nkemdiche is still recovering from a calf strain, but Arians did praise him for his effort and play in a padded Thursday practice. Nkemdiche will be important when it comes to stopping the run and showcased his abilities when healthy during the preseason.
Both players missed Tuesday’s practice, but participated in a limited role the rest of the week.
Deone Bucannon will be scratched from the teams opening game as he continues to recover from ankle surgery this offseason.
The Lions have three players listed as Questionable for their season opener. Ezekiel Ansah (knee), Kenny Golladay (ankle), and Corey Robinson (foot). None of these players are expected to miss the game. With the NFL removing the “Probable” designation from the injury report, there will be plenty of this for the upcoming season.
Haloti Ngata and T.J. Lang had a rest day.
