With the Arizona Cardinals out of the playoffs, the offseason rumor mill is in full swing.

Coming out of the Shrine Game, the Godfather, Tony Pauline was dropping some awesome nuggets on what he has heard about the Arizona Cardinals getting ready for the offseason.

First, they’ll be in on Kirk Cousins, as we talked about this morning.

Second, the Arizona Cardinals will be looking to extend David Johnson this offseason, possibly making him the highest paid running back in the NFL, from Pauline:

I was also told the franchise will look to lock up running back David Johnson to a long-term deal once the signing period begins, despite the fact that Johnson has one year remaining on his current deal.

If a new contract happens, Johnson could be the highest-paid running back in the league this fall.

First off, Pauline is rock solid when it comes to draft rumors in terms of team interest and who is declaring. However, I have personally never tracked his accuracy of rumor sharing with the main NFL teams.

However, if these two rumors are true, the Cardinals will look to make the pairing of Cousins and Johnson the face of the Cardinals offense for the next four to five seasons.

It will be expensive, but how much different does the Arizona Cardinals job look with those two in tow?
