Rashaan Evans - Inside Linebacker
Alabama - Senior
6’3’’, 234 Pounds
He did what a lot of former ‘Bama linebackers do, go back to school and improve your draft stock. Something tells me this is going to be an intriguing prospect to watch through the process.
Strengths: Does not avoid contact with players, and is violent towards blockers. Someone who can chase and tackle, Evans is a quintessential inside backer. Fast reaction, totally balanced on his feet, and has high IQ when diagnosing run plays and play action. Evans is a tackling machine who will rack up TFL’s when he’s playing on Sundays. Size is a big plus too. Quite the thumper, and can force his body weight into somebody.
Weaknesses: His timing in pass coverage is not great, and sometimes get’s pushed out of position when attacking bigger guards and tackles.
Cardinals Summary: This is probably one of those prospects the Cardinals won’t have the luxury of grabbing. He’s just an uber athletic linebacker who reads the run very well. Would I be mad if the Cardinals took a guy like Rashaan Evans, a year after we took Haason Reddick? Nope, because schematic fit is what is important. He could be a more athletic outside linebacker in a 4-3 scheme.
Projected: Top-15-End of 1st Round
Stats (2017): 74 total tackles, 13 TFL’s, 6 sacks, 3 pass deflections, 1 FR, 1 FF
Pro Comparison: Thomas Davis - Carolina Panthers
