Lamar Jackson - Quarterback
Louisville - Junior
6’2’’, 211 Pounds
For some odd reason, this prospect isn’t getting the hype he deserves, but it’s not his fault. Lamar Jackson is a tremendous athlete who can utilize his blend of running ability, and can score at any point of the game, run or pass.
Strengths: His running ability is just as good as a running back and can make guys miss on read-options. He is probably the most elusive quarterback in this class and can outrun most linebackers. Throwing motion is actually good, as he’s able to wind up very well, and deliver on mid-to-long balls. Seems to float the ball very well to tall receivers.
Weaknesses: Comes from a spread option, and that’s already put him behind the eight ball when learning a pro-style system. Makes throws across his body, which result typically in overthrows. Never surpassed 60% in completions during his college career and seems to scattershot when really pressured.
Cardinals Summary: I really like the skill-set of Lamar Jackson, he plays with a certain pedigree, and makes big time plays. The Cardinals would need a mobile quarterback to compete with its current offensive line, but if the Cards make big improvements for that side of the ball, watch out. Has the Heisman pedigree, and can become even more dynamic with some development. Problems will arise with any quarterback you take, but I think Lamar could start immediately if given the chance.
