The salary shaving for the Arizona Cardinals is starting already.

According to Arizona Sports Mike Jurecki, the Arizona Cardinals are going to release veteran running back Adrian Peterson.

The cut will free up about $2.8 million in cap space according to Over the Cap’s salary calculator.

That won’t seem like much, but it gets the Cardinals over $11 million in cap space with more likely coming via cuts, extensions and likely some sales restructuring.

Peterson did an admirable job in his brief stint in Arizona, appearing in six games, rushing for 448 yards and two touchdowns, but his presence alone wasn’t enough to overcome the other deficiencies along the offense.

Mike McCoy likes to use a two back system, but that may change with an all everything back in David Johnson, or maybe they have an eye on one of the talented running backs in the 2018 NFL Draft.

Either way, if this is the end for Peterson in Arizona, you wonder if he'll be getting another shot anywhere else.
