The Arizona Cardinals take on the Denver Broncos tonight and to help get us ready Mile High Report’s Joe Rowles was kind enough to give us a look at the Broncos and what is going on in Denver.
Thanks Joe and good luck and good health to the Broncos tonight.
1. With the season going the way it has, are the fans still behind passing on Josh Allen and Josh Rosen for Bradley Chubb?
I think Bronco fans pretty split on Rosen. Allen was a bit more decisive but there were quite a few Bronco fans that thought Rosen was the best or second best QB prospect in this class, myself included. It helps that Bradley Chubb just had his breakout game against the Rams but at the end of the day Elway chose a 30-year old veteran quarterback to patch a short-term problem at the position while ignoring the long-term questions it created. With the Broncos falling out of realistic playoff contention it seems a large portion of Broncos Country is ready for Chad “Swag” Kelly.
2. How much time does Vance Joseph have left?
The speculation has been rampant for a while now. My guess is it really depends on the Arizona game, if Denver loses there’s a 10-day window for a new coach to make changes before the Broncos have to make their annual visit to Kansas City. If the team finds a way to beat the Cardinals Joseph buys himself more time. I wouldn’t be shocked if he’s canned before the bye week.
3. How important is this game and win or lose does it change the feeling of the fans for the immediate future?
Not really. Winning Thursday would probably quiet a restless fanbase for a few days, but the team sold Keenum’s arrival as an attempt at a playoff berth this season. He’s fallen far short of even pre-2017 expectations and the defense has fallen from their previously elite status to laughable. Vance Joseph and the coaching staff has received a large share of the blame for that.
