Deadspin: Raiders fire McKenzie
Well... That's significant.
Some of Keim's recent "hits" include deals involving Keim to McKenzie bro-fisting.
We got Carson Palmer in a deal with the Raiders.
McKenzie didn't sign Jared Veldheer, and Keim was able to grab him on a good contract for a starting LT.
And most recently, we are able to swap draft positions with the Raiders and draft Josh Rosen.
Lots to review by real reporters and writers about the long-term impact this might have on the Raiders.
But for the Cardinals, we lost one of AZ's most buddy-buddy trade partners. Heck, the Patriots might be our best trade resource moving into a potential year with Keim again.
I think deadspin has it right that Chucky is asserting dominance in Oakland/Vegas, but I'm curious if this is a model Bidwill thinks about.
Fire the GM, retain your first year HC. Not the same investment in Wilks that the Raiders have in Gruden - but it's a blueprint that exists.
I suppose the McCarthy firing is another blueprint.
I just hope we don't get embarrassed at Atlanta at this point.
For at least now, we do have a reference to show mid-season GM firing this year, and Bidwill must also have some relationship ties given the recent Cards/Raiders history.
What will happen?! Only time now to see when and how things change for the Cards.
