As the mock drafts from around the web continue to roll in the question becomes, how many quarterbacks get drafted before the Arizona Cardinals pick at 15?
Most mock drafts have four in the top 12, some order of Sam Darnold, Josh Rosen, Baker Mayfield and Josh Allen, with half the mocks putting Lamar Jackson in the end of round one and half the mocks putting Mason Rudolph and Jackson in round two.
For the Cardinals, the question becomes, how do you value the quarterbacks?
Dan Kadar doesn’t think they’ll reach at 15 and instead hope one falls that they can pounce on in the second round.
15. Arizona Cardinals: Denzel Ward, CB, Ohio State
Since mock drafts are make believe anyway, let’s pretend the Cardinals convince a veteran quarterback to sign this offseason because Larry Fitzgerald is coming back. If those two things happen, general manager Steve Keim could stick to his motto of best player available. In this case, it’s Ward by a long shot.
Ward is one of the better corners in the draft, there will be questions about his height, but he can be the best slot corner in the league and has the tenacity and will to work outside as well.
The first 14 picks:
- Sam Darnold
- Josh Rosen
- Bradley Chubb
- Saquon Barkley
- Quenton Nelson
- Baker Mayfield
- Orlando Brown
- Minkah Fitzpatrick
- Tremaine Edmunds
- Roquan Smith
- Derwin James
- Connor Williams
- Vita Vea
- Harold Landry
47. Arizona Cardinals: Lamar Jackson, QB, Louisville
This is the Oakland Raiders of 2014 all over again. A top flight defensive prospect and a falling quarterback into round two. This is the best case scenario for the Cardinals and would make fans ecstatic after draft day.
Josh Allen went 21 to Buffalo Mason Rudolph went 61 to the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Would you take this draft for the Cardinals?
