The Arizona Cardinals have been trying, for years, to figure out a number of positions. In fact, when you go through the annals of Arizona Cardinals their are two positions that stand out as success in Arizona: Wide receiver and cornerback.
The Cardinals have had flashes at other positions. They had a nice run at running back with Edgerrin James and Beanie Wells, hell even David Johnson, at quarterback with Kurt Warner and more recently Carson Palmer, maybe even add in Jake Plummer. They have had dominant pass rushers in Simeon Rice and Chandler Jones.
Yet, there is one position that has eluded the Cardinals for a couple of decades. One, because of stubbornness, inability to scout or bad luck... Sometime all three.
That’s right, the one position I would love to see the Cardinals nail this offseason, for the first time, outside of quarterback, is a guard.
They had Leonard Davis, but refused to play him at guard. They brought in Alan Faneca, Mike Iupati and Daryn Colledge, drafted Deuce Lutui, Elton Brown and Jonathan Cooper.
Yet, they are looking at two new guards for the third time in the Steve Keim era, if they move on for Mike Iupati.
They’ve miscalculated on a number of players, and missed out on some game changers, David DeCastro and just missed on others... is Cole Toner still in the league?
This offseason, getting an Andrew Norwell or Quenton Nelson, getting a guard that can be a linchpin of the line, would be amazing.
What position, outside of QB, would you want to see the Cardinals nail this offseason?
