One thing that occurred over the last month that has been on my mind since it occurred was the reaction from players who were losing Steve Wilks as their defensive coordinator.
The outpouring of love for the incoming Arizona Cardinals head coach from his former players was incredible.
Players loved to play for Wilks, loved the way he coached and were sad to see him leave.
Maybe I missed it, but I didn’t see that reaction for James Bettcher when he was not retained.
It was interesting and maybe I’m reading too much into it but the lack of that from the players combined with interesting comments from Calais Campbell and flat out bad mouthing from LaMarr Woodley made the departure even more noteworthy, at least to me.
Then this yesterday from Tyrann Mathieu:

The thing is… Those are defensive backs, not defensive linemen that are praising departed defensive line coach Brentson Buckner.
Maybe I’m just off in my assessment, but the silence is deafening.
